Anatomy of a Fire

A fire in a vacant apartment building. On Friday Oct.2, 2009 Detroit Police Officers reported a fire in a three story abandoned apartment house. Engine 35 arrived on the scene and stretched on the fire. Flames were venting out the second and third floor windows. Three lines were used and the fire was brought under control in 40 minutes. Working companies were Engines 35,39,17,40, and 51. Ladder companies 20 and 28. Squads 3 and 2. Chief 5 commanded fire operations. No injuries


Fire at 15815 Gratiot

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 Detroit 9th Battalion companies responded to a fire at 15815 Gratiot at Greiner. Upon assessing the fire conditions Chief 9 requested a 2nd alarm. The fire was brought under control in an hour and a half. Responding companies: Engines 50,58,60,52--Ladders 23, 19--Squads 6, 3 and Chief 9.


Fire on Kenny St.

On Wed., Dec. 24th 2008----9th Battalion companies fought a fire at an abandoned dwelling on Kenny St. between Castle and Gilbo. After extinguishing the blaze the fire crews retired to the fire boat for a photo op.
