2010 Road Trip: Day Forty-five

Day forty-five was a day of rest. I slept in until 10am. I was up, last night until 4am talking to that fascinating young woman who was an executive with a cruise company. I missed my morning walk. I entered the early bird hold-em tournament and was quickly eliminated. I am starting to think more and more about getting a babushka and playing bingo like my friend Jake. I went to the Laundromat and washed clothes. Lunch was eaten on the hood of my car while I waited for the dryer to tumble dry my clothes. I ate sardines and crackers, four prunes, and a ripe banana. I call this meal “Hobo’s Delight,” an appropriate meal for a traveler from Detroit.

It is hard to believe I have been gone for a month and a half. I am already planning next year’s trip. I do know I will be back in Vegas in June for the Public Safety Writers Association writer’s conference. There should be other conferences to attend. I am getting more involved with Toastmasters. They throw some great seminars. Next year I will try to bring a partner, because the driving part of my tour is tiring. I consider day 45 as a slow day because I didn’t meet any characters today. I have my bags packed and will move on to the Fiesta Casino for a few days before I leave for California. I am enjoying talking to you every morning. Your comments make my day. In my heart I know the most special people in my life are my friends and family and the Firefighters I once worked with. I love you all.
